Maria's original Networking Mothers group in 2005

About

Networking Mothers Ireland™ is a unique mum & baby group initiative that was setup in Galway in 2005, to support mothers through the transition to motherhood.

While earning a Masters in the Transition into Motherhood, Maria Flannery O’Boyle, a Public Health Nurse, Midwife identified that the majority of women had a negative transition, and 50% had a low network of support. The majortiy of mums support did not match their need with a new baby. As a result she piloted an initiative and developed an evidence based model of support based on ten principles to nurture mothers through the transition. The key to this model is that mums meet mums virtually , develop good quality informal supports in their community, which is delivered in a safe environment by a trained health care professional who understand motherhood. The research shows that Networking Mothers™ through our professional support  provides evidence based information and above all provides emotional support and increases a mum's network of support to enjoy motherhood.

We are currently virtually based all over Ireland.
